Driven by knowledge and technology, our company continues to stay at the forefront of advances in the production of Viscose Staple Fibers to meet our customers' expectations and to remain an environmentally friendly producer. Modern Maintenance practices have bring in high reliability and availability of plant to produce consistant high quality product.

The plants are engineered by firms, world-renowned in their respective fields. They are Lenzing AG of Austria, Ing. Maurer SA of Switzerland, Ebner and Co. of Germany, Haldor Topsoe A/S on Denmark, Thermax of India etc. We are proud to have the single largest viscose spinning machines in the world, with an individual capacity of up to 210 tons of fiber per day. Our engineers work closely with manufacturing equipment providers and technology consultants. This, combined with our long experience in reliability management, has enabled us to reach world-class status in plant reliability and maintenance friendliness.

Our large spinning machines are operated on sofesticated control system like DCS, PLC supplied from world renowned manufacturers such as ABB Bailey, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Rosemount, Yogokawa etc. with Wonderware's in-touch graphic software interface. It ensures high quality & consistant quality.

On-line analytical instruments for spinbath concentration and for bleach bath controls are in place. ROBOTICS for brightness-monitoring facilitates the continuous measuring and automatic correction of the process parameters to maintain paramount quality levels of the fibers.

The on-line data acquisition of critical plant parameters combined with a communication network to provide intelligent interface with local area networks (LAN) enables middle management and higher management personnel to view the on-line plant status from their offices.

The process plant's control rooms and panels are being kept pollution free by controlling air quality using techniques from Circulaire, Canada. This implementation has brought in a high degree of reliability to the sophisticated controls. To enhance our plant's reliability and capability, we have shifted, over time, our maintenance management philosophy; from entirely preventive towards pro-active maintenance.

We have developed a proprietary computerised maintenance system that has given us a competitive edge in performing the tasks of maintenance scheduling, part inventory, archiving historical data, etc. We have made a rapid advance in the field of condition monitoring and test engineering in recent years. This in turn allows us to anticipate potential mal-function and plan corrective measures, not just react to them.

Failure analysis has been put into practice and has been proven to be one of the most effective maintenance tools. Each failure is analysed and a clear action plan is made accordingly. Work is coordinated, starting from supervising to departmental management level, to ensure clear and effective communication among Process and Maintenance personnel. A Work order system is in place. Various work procedures have been formulated to carry out jobs in an effective way.

We consider vocational training an obligation towards society and an investment into the future of our company. At PT South Pacific Viscose, training has been woven in to our work life. Regular training programs designed for chemists and mechanics are offered at workplaces, in workshops and in the Training Centre. Special training is conducted by reputable agencies such as Siemens, ABB, Mitsubishi,SKF etc within the frame work of an occupational development objective.

In consultation with Price Water House Cooper, we have implemented a continuous Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) program. This well structured RCM program with the participation of key operating personnel from all disciplines is a new yet practical approach towards improving machine reliability. It is proven to be considerably beneficial not only in terms of operating economics but also in terms of human resources development.

Safety at work is integral part of maintenance. Each task has been analyzed from safety point of view as well. It is ensured that all actions, including safety permits are issued prior to start of work. This practice has ensured vertually zero accident/incident at work place.
