PT. South Pacific Viscose (SPV) is located in Purwakarta, Indonesia. The company has been a producer of viscose staple fibers and sodium sulfate since 1982. The initial fiber production capacity has risen from 30,000 to 165,000 p.a. in meantime. The capacity for sodium sulfate is currently about 100,000 tons p.a. In beginning 2010 our fourth line will come on stream and viscose fiber production will be increased up to maximum 220,000 tons p.a.

Major shareholder:
Lenzing Aktiengesellschaft, Austria
SPV is therefore proud to be seen a part of Lenzing Group

Our mission:
To maintain our quality leadership in all our markets.

Our achievements:
We were the first company to introduce high tenacity viscose fibers for textile and nonwovens applications to the Indonesian market. We have also developed a special type of viscose fiber to meet the unique demands of the new generation of high speed Open End (OE) spinning technologies. Our OE type fiber proved to be an instant success in this very important and rapidly growing market segment by ensuring excellent quality and running efficiency. We enabled our customers to increase yarn sales to markets including Japan, Europe and America by improving not only fiber tenacity, but color consistency and other fiber characteristics decisive for the production of high quality yarns. In the past years we established the new Asian standard for high quality nonwoven fibers.

Our outlook:
We continuously invest in the latest technology available and we continually improve our human resource and management systems. SPV today therefore provides viscose staple fibers meeting the high standards of leading textile manufacturers.SPV will continue to develop and improve its products and services to ensure customer success – today and tomorrow.

Others measure quality – we produce it:
SPV’s demanding quality management system was awarded ISO 9001, ISO 14001 as well as OHSAS 18001 certification by OQS Certification and Evaluation Ltd. Supported by the Lenzing Group, SPV is continually improving its equipment, production procedures, testing methods and management systems. This is how we keep ahead of the latest developments in the industry.

Setting environmental standards for the industry in Asia
Its high environmental standards make PT. South Pacific Viscose the industry leader in Asia. Several waste gas purification technologies such as Supersorbon® systems, CS2-condensation and catalytic combustion are employed to minimize atmospheric load. These systems serve the recovery of sulfurous compounds, as well as the substantial reduction of H2S and CS2 emissions. SPV is equipped with a modern Topsoe plant for catalytic waste gas combustion. Moreover, the weak odorous gases from fiber production are used as combustion air for energy production boilers. This reduces sulfur emissions even further. Modern waste treatment facilities ensure compliance with government regulations and standards. Sludge is combusted in the new power generation facility, reducing solid waste and generating electricity and steam for production.

Viscose – the ideal blending partner

Viscose fibers are the ideal partner for adding moisture absorption, drape and color brilliance to textiles and nonwovens.

  • In blends with synthetic fibers like polyester, viscose fibers add moisture absorption and comfort. When blended with cotton, viscose adds better drape and color brilliance. In blends with linen, viscose adds much needed softness and color depth. Because viscose fibers are man-made, denier, cut-length and finish can be modified to optimize their performance in the various fiber blends.

  • Viscose fibers are also used in a wide range of applications in the nonwovens industry. Industrial and household wipes are becoming important markets in Asia as income levels increase. Their high absorbency and level of cleanliness compared with other fibers make viscose fibers important components in many applications.

TENCEL®

A new age has begun in TENCEL® fiber technology. TENCEL® offers a unique combination of the most desirable properties of man made and natural fibers: soft as silk, strong as polyester, cool as linen, warm as wool and as absorbent as cotton.

The aromatic raw material for TENCEL® is extracted from eucalyptus wood taken exclusively from forest plantations which practice sustainability. The cellulose fiber TENCEL® is important for a variety of end-use applications. It is becoming an indispensable partner in sports and leisure textiles. TENCEL® absorbs 50% more moisture than cotton and ensures the best possible moisture transportation. In shirts and blouses the fiber guarantees the optimum size and dimensional stability of the garment and is extremely comfortable to wear. Bedding with TENCEL® creates the most favourable conditions for sleep – cool in summer and pleasantly warm in winter.

Lenzing Modal®

For more than 40 years, Lenzing Modal® has epitomized pure luxury and softness, the ultimate sensual feeling next to skin. The fiber remains wonderfully soft even after repeated washing and retains its colour brilliance. Lenzing Modal® is particularly well suited for blends with cotton since both fibers have similar properties. In particular, the dyeing performance of Lenzing Modal® emulates that of cotton. The natural softener of Lenzing Modal® means fabrics remain pleasant to the touch even after repeated washing. Hardening of the fabric, which occurs as a result of limestone deposits and traces of detergent, becomes a thing of the past with Lenzing Modal®

Lenzing Modal® is produced from indigenous beech wood and thus it is 100% natural. Pulp and fiber production both employ the principle of sustainability. Lenzing produces the pulp used for fiber production which gives it control even the entire production process. This is unique within the fiber industry.

Lenzing Modal® is the softest temptation since textiles began. The superior softness factor makes Lenzing Modal® the softest fiber in the world and ideal for body conscious clothing. Lenzing Modal® is the ideal partner for intimate apparel, loungewear, including terrycloth products or day and night wear.
