Lenzing Group member PT. South Pacific Viscose (SPV) has been a producer of viscose staple fibers and sodium sulfate since 1982. The initial fiber production capacity has risen from 30,000 to 150,000 tons p.a. The capacity for sodium sulfate is currently at 90,000 tons p.a.

Our mission:
To maintain our quality leadership in all our markets.

Our achievements:
We were the first company to introduce high tenacity viscose fibers for textile and nonwoven applications to the Indonesian market. Our customers were enabled to increase yarn sales to markets including Japan, Europe and America by improving not only fiber tenacity, but color consistency and other fiber characteristics decisive for the production of high quality yarns.

Our outlook:
We continually invest in the latest technology available and we continually improve our human resource and management systems. SPV today therefore provides viscose staple fibers meeting the high standards of leading textile manufacturers. SPV will continue to develop and improve its products and services to ensure customer success – today and tomorrow.

Others measure quality – we produce it:
SPV’s exacting management system was awarded ISO 9001, ISO 14001 as well as OHSAS 18001 certification by OeQS supported by the Lenzing Group. SPV is continually improving its equipment, production procedures, testing methods and management systems to keep ahead of the latest developments in the industry.

Setting environmental standards for the industry in Asia
With its high environmental standards, PT. South Pacific Viscose is leading in the industry in Asia. Several waste gas purification technologies like Supersorbon® systems, CS2-condensation and catalytic combustion are employed for minimizing atmospheric load. These systems serve the recovery of sulfurous compounds, as well as the substantial reduction of H2S and CS2 emissions. SPV is equipped with a modern Topsoe plant for catalytic waste gas combustion. Moreover, the weak odorous gases from fiber production are used as combustion air for energy production boilers. This further reduces sulfur emissions. Modern waste treatment facilities ensure compliance with government regulations and standards. Sludge is combusted in the new power generation facility, reducing solid waste and generating electricity and steam for production.

Viscose – the ideal blending partner

Viscose fibers are the ideal partner for adding moisture absorption, drape and color brilliance to textiles and nonwovens.

  • In blends with synthetic fibers like polyester, viscose fibers add moisture absorption and comfort. When blended with cotton, viscose adds better drape and color brilliance. In blends with linen, viscose adds much needed softness and color depth. Because viscose fibers are man-made, denier, cut-length and finish can be modified to optimize their performance in the various fiber blends.

  • Viscose fibers are also used in a wide range of applications in the nonwovens industry. Industrial and household wipes are becoming important markets in Asia as income levels increase. Their high absorbency and level of cleanliness compared with other fibers make viscose fibers important components in many applications.

TENCEL®

With TENCEL® a new age has begun in fiber technology. TENCEL® unites the advantages of many different fibers. “It is as fine as silk, as strong as polyester, as easy to care for as acrylic, cool and pleasant like linen, as warm as wool and absorbs more moisture than cotton” (quote from a customer).

Produced from the natural raw material eucalyptus, the cellulose fiber TENCEL® is important for a variety of end-use applications. It is becoming an indispensable partner in sports and leisure textiles. TENCEL® absorbs 130% more vapor than cotton and ensures the best possible moisture transportation. In shirts and blouses the fiber guarantees the optimum size and dimensional stability of the garment and is extremely comfortable to wear. Bedding with TENCEL® creates the most favorable conditions for sleep – cool in summer and pleasantly warm in winter.

Lenzing Modal®

Lenzing Modal® has been providing pure softness next to the skin for more than 40 years, a record no other fiber can equal. Lenzing Modal® is particularly well suited for blends with cotton since both fibers have similar properties. In particular, the dyeing performance of Lenzing Modal® emulates that of cotton. The natural softener of Lenzing Modal® means fabrics remain pleasant to the touch even after repeated washing. Hardening of the fabric, which occurs as a result of limestone deposits and traces of detergent, becomes a thing of the past with Lenzing Modal®

Naturalness plays a key role in Lenzing Modal®. The fiber is made from beech wood, a natural raw material. Lenzing Modal® is the perfect fiber for fabrics worn next to the skin – for day and night, sports and active wear. In home textiles, it is used for a variety of terry-cloth products.

Lenzing Viscose®

As a result of ongoing research and the continuing development of fiber quality, the Lenzing Group has made a name for itself as a leading manufacturer of cellulose fibers.
