Process efficiency is continually being upgraded to minimise
the release of wastes. Particularly in the area of water effluent,
our engineers seek to reduce both the effluent stream and its pollutant
load.
The characteristics and variability of each waste water stream
are well established and monitored regularly. The treatment processes
are optimised for the volume of the waste streams and their respective
pollutant loads. The treatment processes include initial grit and
screenings removal, pH correction, primary sedimentation, activated
sludge secondary treatment and sludge treatment and conditioning.
Most of the treated water is reused within the plant and associated
landscaped areas. Treated water leaving the facility is monitored
to ensure that its quality far exceeds statutory requirements.
